Foothill's Momtourage Arrives at Mipcom
(Santa Barbara, CA - March, 2009): Santa Barbara-based Foothill Entertainment is proud to announce at MIPTV 2009, exciting new developments for its expanding catalogue. Tales of being the daughter of the world's most famous pop star, having to deal with your own shadow and dreaming the impossible dream spring to life this market with comedy, laughter and a lot of heart.
Due to an overwhelming demand at MIPCOM last year, My Momtourage and Me has been redeveloped from animation to live-action to broaden its appeal to reach the older 'tween audience as well as the entire family. "We are not losing the feel of the original brand by moving to live-action but expanding on its potential," says Jo Kavanagh-Payne, President of Foothill. "Moreover, we are still keeping the doors open to other opportunities with the animation and are delighted that this will now be an exciting series for the whole family to enjoy." Created by acclaimed Australian illustrator/writer, Kyla May, My Momtourage and Me focuses on the ever changing relationship between a teenager and her larger-than-life famous pop-star mom.
Also among the growing slate of live-action at Foothill Entertainment, the unique live-action series, Me & My Shadow, has evolved tremendously as well. In an effort to further embrace the "family entertainment" motto, the property has been aged up for the whole family to enjoy and a new script has been finalized. "We believe we have finally achieved the comedy and tone that we have been looking for," says Gregory Payne, Chairman of Foothill. "In this latest script, we think the project has really come alive." Being co-produced by Great Western Entertainment of Australia, this fun series follows a teenage boy who finds his whole world turned upside down when his shadow takes on a life of its own... and it's female!
Continuing the wave of success started at MIPCOM Junior 2007, Foothill also brings the delightful Boy and the Dinosaur to MIP. This CGI series was among the most viewed programs at MIPCOM Junior in 2007, where it ranked No. 17 against hundreds of other top quality shows. Boy and the Dinosaur tells the story of a boy who makes a wish on a shooting star one night, while playing with his toy dinosaur. When the boy wakes in the morning, the dinosaur he dreamed of has followed him back through time and space to come alive.
Founded in September 2000 by former DIC Entertainment executive vice president of business and legal affairs, Gregory Payne and Jo Kavanagh-Payne, former Link Television Entertainment, Inc senior vice president of U.S. operations, Foothill specializes in the co-development and distribution of children's and family entertainment programming. Their Company is based in Santa Barbara, California.
