Phew reaches Foothill with new eco-toon

US kids distributor Foothill Entertainment has partnered with Toronto's Kaleidoscope Entertainment on a new environmentally aware animation project with UK prodco Phew.

Snapper, created by Phew founders Guy Hallifax, Ian Ellery and Mick Wells, is set on the Amazon-like Maricombo River and follows the exploits of a mischievous alligator exploring his jungle community.

The CGI series, which will be animated by Malaysia's Vision Animation, aims to draw attention to the rich but fragile life in the jungle, including themes such as alternative fuels and sustainable living.

"Snapper has been a pet project of ours for some time, just waiting for the right time and the right partners. Clearly with all of the mounting worldwide interest in environmental issues such as global warming and the deforestation of the Amazon, its time has come," said Hallifax.
